Karuna® Reiki

The Karuna Reiki healing system was developed by William Lee Rand, and several others at The International Center for Reiki Training. Marla Abraham of the Wellington Hypnosis Center, Wellington, FL, was one who channeled symbols, as did Laurelle Shanti Gaia, author of “The Book On Karuna Reiki”. Karuna is a Sanskrit word and is used in Hinduism, Buddhism and Zen; it translates to mean “any action that is taken to diminish the suffering of others” and is also translated as “compassionate action”.

Karuna is the motivating quality of all enlightened beings that are working to end suffering on Earth. They continually send an unlimited amount of healing energy and guidance to us. Karuna Reiki evolved out of Usui and Tibetan Reiki from a desire and knowingness that there is always something greater waiting to be uncovered.
Karuna Reiki ‘s intense energy is stronger and has the potential for greater healing so it is the next step after Usui Master training.

William Rand tells us that Karuna means compassionate action and this is not an ordinary kind of compassion, but one that comes from an unbounded sea of love. This is the kind of compassion that when combined with wisdom can take one to enlightenment. He says that once enlightened, all those who have followed this path are compelled by the great love that has grown in their hearts to turn their attention toward reducing suffering and helping others to become enlightened also. He continues saying the being’s who have followed this path and reside in this unbounded sea of love have unlimited power and at the same time unlimited kindness. They have mastered Karuna and because of this are it’s emissaries. They act like beckons sending unlimited healing potential into every part of the universe.

Karuna Reiki opens the practitioner up to experience more closely all enlightened beings, this includes those that are physically present as well as in spirit. The recipient of a Karuna Reiki healing can also experience this energy.
